WASHINGTON, DC (November 21, 2024) – Yesterday, the Washington Business Hall of Fame – Greater Washington's signature lifetime achievement award in business – welcomed its 2024 class of Laureates during a gala held at The Anthem. The Washington Business Hall of Fame (Hall of Fame) recognizes the achievements of Greater Washington’s most accomplished leaders and celebrates their impact on the local economy, surrounding communities, and overall quality of life.
The 2024 Hall of Fame Laureates will join nearly 200 leaders who have received this honor since the Hall of Fame began 36 years ago. They are:
Rosie Allen-Herring: President and Chief Executive Officer, United Way of the National Capital Area
Nate Davis: Retired Chairman and CEO, Stride Learning, Inc.
Geoffrey Pohanka: Chairman, Pohanka Automotive Group
Kevin C. Virostek: Retired Greater Washington Managing Partner, EY
The Washington Business Hall of Fame benefits Junior Achievement of Greater Washington (JA). JA’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. With a century-long legacy of connecting what works in business with what works in education, JA’s programming is fundamental to the mission of the Hall of Fame program: connecting the best in business to inspire the next in business. The 2024 Hall of Fame raised $1.6 million to support JA’s work to provide students with the skillset, mindset, and connections to build thriving communities.
With more than 800 guests in attendance, the Hall of Fame gala celebrated the new Laureate class and elevated the JA students carving their own paths to success. A hallmark of the Hall of Fame is bringing local students to the table alongside trailblazing Washington business leaders to offer a uniquely powerful glimpse into what’s possible for their futures. Four current JA students and two JA alumni spoke at this year’s gala, sharing stories of how JA’s programs have impacted their education and lives.
Chaired by Tony Pierce, Partner at Akin, the 2024 Hall of Fame was presented by Truist and supported by business partners Greater Washington Board of Trade and Washington Business Journal.
