WASHINGTON, D. C. (July 22, 2020) – The Washington Business Hall of Fame and Junior Achievement of Greater Washington (JA) has announced its 2020 Laureate inductees. This year’s class of distinguished honorees will be celebrated for their professional and philanthropic contributions to the quality of life in Greater Washington through the private sector economy.
The 2020 Washington Business Hall of Fame Laureates are:
Dr. Edward H. Bersoff – Chairman, Greenwich Associates, LLC; Chairman, Parabilis, LLC
Janet Hill – Board of Directors of The Carlyle Group and Esquire Bank
Mark D. Lerner – Principal, Lerner Enterprises; Managing Principal Owner and Vice Chairman, Washington Nationals
The Washington Business Hall of Fame Re-Imagined is headlined by two live virtual events, the Student & Laureate Town Hall and the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. A new series of master classes led by business and community are infused throughout the day-long experience. Sponsor dollars not only support JA’s mission across the region, but also directly fund All-Access Passes for local students so that they can connect directly with the Best in Business.
“During these uncertain times, Junior Achievement remains committed to being the bridge that connects business and education, regardless of the medium in which we have to deliver that connection,” said Ed Grenier, President and CEO of JA of Greater Washington. “We know that access equals opportunity, especially for marginalized communities, and we’re proud to enhance the role of the Washington Business Hall of Fame in providing young people access to meaningful experiences and thought leadership from our region’s most successful business and community leaders.”
Since its founding in 1988, more than 100 laureates have been inducted into the Washington Business Hall of Fame. Laureates have been selected for consistently demonstrating excellence in business, visionary leadership, and an ongoing commitment to community engagement. Through their commitment to the Washington D.C. community, this year’s honorees demonstrate these attributes in every facet of their lives.
Chaired by David Straut, Market Executive, Wells Fargo, the 2020 Washington Business Hall of Fame Re-Imagined is presented by Capital One and Wells Fargo, and supported by business partners, the Greater Washington Board of Trade and the Washington Business Journal.
The 2020 Washington Business Hall of Fame Re-Imagined experience will kick off on December 1, 2020 with the Student and Laureate Town Hall at 9 a.m., and conclude with the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at 4:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit Junior Achievement of Greater Washington’s work to prepare the next generation of leaders to be future ready.
