Many think of teenagers being fiscally irresponsible. Everyone wants their kids to understand the value of money, but somehow, a lot of them never get there. WASHINGTON REDSKINS ROOKIES ATTEND JA FINANCE PARK®, RECEIVE CRASH COURSE IN FINANCIAL LITERACY
The Washington Redskins 2016 rookies got a lesson in the importance of budgeting, as they joined forces with eighth graders at Kenmoor Middle School at JA Finance Park® in Landover. While more than 9,000 Prince George's County Public Schools students go through the financial management program in the classroom each year, the Redskins rookies and Kenmoor Middle School students utilized a modified version of the program for a crash course in financial literacy. WINNERS OF 2015 JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT ESSAY COMPETITION SPONSORED BY DAVID RUBENSTEIN ANNOUNCED
Junior Achievement of Greater Washington announced the winners of the 2015 Junior Achievement Essay Competition. This year's competition was intense, as over 1,800 qualified applicants submitted compelling essays answering this year's question: "What does the American Dream mean to you and is it still thriving in Greater Washington? Each year, a first, second, and third place winner are selected from each of Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, and are each awarded a $10,000 scholarship. EASTERN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS VISIT BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING DURING JA JOB SHADOW™ EXPERIENCE
On Thursday, May 5, Junior Achievement of Greater Washington sent 17 students from Eastern High School in Washington D.C. to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) to participate in a JA Job Shadow™ program. The participating students are either currently enrolled or have previously been enrolled in Ms. Perkin's Art class at Eastern High School. On Thursday, June 2, Junior Achievement of Greater Washington participated in Do More 24, a 24-hour online fundraiser powered by United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA). Thanks to the over 600 selfies you sent in, JA took the top prize for selfies on Facebook and Instagram, raising over $5,000 to support our experiential financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs in Greater Washington.
