DUNBAR & ANACOSTIA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TAKE PART IN JA JOB SHADOW™ AT THE WHITE HOUSE
Junior Achievement of Greater Washington sent 12 Dunbar High School and Anacostia High School students to the White House to learn about cybersecurity through the Federal Information Technology (IT) Job Shadow partnership between the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council Workforce Committee and JA of Greater Washington. Students had the opportunity to meet Chief Information Officer of the United States Tony Scott, take part in workshops exploring various technology-related careers including threat analysis and social media, and have lunch in the private White House bowling alley. FREEDOM H.S. STUDENTS GIVE OVER 300 THIRD GRADERS IN VA THE JA® EXPERIENCE
Freedom High School students in Loudoun County participated in their first ever High School Heroes program by teaching Junior Achievement® programs to elementary school students. The High School Heroes program allows regional high school students to prepare and volunteer in the classroom at local elementary schools. It is an opportunity for the high school students to practice their leadership and professional presentation skills, while teaching elementary school students critical life skills and serving as role models for them.
