EDWARD J. GRENIER III
President and CEO
Junior Achievement of the National Capital Area

Ed Grenier, a native of the Greater Washington Region, serves as the President and CEO of Junior Achievement of the National Capital Area, the regional chapter of the world’s oldest and largest organization dedicated to educating young people about workforce readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship through experiential, hands-on programs. In addition to overseeing operations in Washington, DC, and much of Maryland and Virginia, Ed also represents Junior Achievement’s world headquarters on many national and international initiatives within the Nation’s Capital.

Under Ed’s leadership as CEO since 1996, Junior Achievement has increased the number of children served annually in the Greater Washington Region from 9,600 to a projected 44,000 in the 2008-2009 school year. Also during his tenure, Ed has grown the organization’s signature event, the Washington Business Hall of Fame, into one of the Region’s premier business events each year.

Over the past 24 years, he has served in many leadership positions on non profit and community Boards of Directors, most recently with the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, and the Non Profit Roundtable. He was recently the chair of Junior Achievement’s 2007 Worldwide Leadership Conference in Washington, DC.

Prior to joining Junior Achievement, Ed spent many years as the National Director of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy Foundation, the Director of Development for the Jesuits’ national think-tank at Georgetown University, and much of the 1980s as a Wealth Management Advisor for Smith Barney and Legg Mason.

Ed is a graduate of Villanova University, and lives with his wife Lynette and daughters Sydney and Haley in Rockville, Maryland.
